True Repentance or Crocodile tears?

In those days, John the Baptist came preaching, Repent ye for the kingdom of God is at hand. Many people were baptized of him, confessing their sins. Then came Sadducees and Pharisees also; John seeing them said, “O generation of vipers who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth FRUITS MEET FOR REPENTANCE. Think not to say within your hearts, we have Abraham to our father. I say unto you God is able of these stones to raise children unto Abraham.    Matt 3:5-9

Repentance vs Feeling Sorry

The Pharisees might be feeling sorry, but John saw through their deception and hence asked them to bring forth Fruits meeting repentance. There is a huge difference between Repentance and Feeling Sorry.

To “repent”, we must acknowledge our sins, seek the forgiveness of the Lord and then move away from our sin with haste in the reverse.

  • When we repent we also must “eschew” (run from) evil. 1 Peter 3:11
  • Repentance is not simply being sorry, but being sorry is the first step towards repentance, it works toward repentance but is not repentance. 2 Corinthians 7:10
  • To repent is not simply an emotional act, such as “feeling sorry” but rather requires a change of moral purpose, and requires regret of the past and pursuit of a new direction. The repentance spoken by Peter in Acts 2:38  is that we repent to God, not to man, we acknowledge our sin and pursue a new course of direction with Jesus as our navigator.

Consider some of the TPM Theatrics

It was nice that the Pharisees had come to John. They openly came to John, expressing the need for washing away (baptism) of sins. What a display of humility by these leaders! Their followers would say “How humble are our leaders.” But was it really repentance? Baptist John thought otherwise! He saw fake remorse and crocodile tears of Pharisees. During sanctification meetings in TPM, we see a lot of people wailing loudly “Aandwareeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee… Yesuveeeeeeeeeeeeee…..” Or Halleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee…luiah… One-half of these words are stretched for an eternity, to make a pretence that people are weeping and confessing. I hope you got the idea what I mean. If not listen to this audio

Imagine a TPM pastor caught in an accident case in the police station and some believers have come for help. Suppose the police inspector says “Sir you seem to be a devout man. I will release you. Just say sorry to this man and you can go.” How would TPM pastor say sorry then? Would he say sooooooooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrry or so-o-o–rryryryryryr to the policeman? Would he say this for half an hour? If not, then why do these people show these kinds of crocodile confessions drama in God’s presence? These appear as acting classes to me. A newcomer soon learns this style of saying everlasting words. TPMites feel spirituality elevated having sung this lullaby.

T U Thomas and his Crocodile Confession

An audio of T U Thomas has been doing rounds in WhatsApp groups.  In this Sunday message, T. U. Thomas is agreeing to the existence of boasting spirit in TPM. He says TPM workers are most arrogant and proud people on earth. Next to them are TPM believers. He says TPM has the habit of boasting “We have the biggest building. We have so large crowd attending our meetings and so on. When are we going to repent? Listen…”

While this is true and many will agree to it that TPM workers and believers possess boasting spirit, but I believe this was crocodile confession of T. U. Thomas. This was just like Pharisees coming to John for baptism, but lacking fruits meet for repentance. Just like dead faith does not produce good works so likewise, crocodile confessions do not produce fruits worthy of repentance.

If T U was really grieved and was not doing lip service, then he would have taken some drastic measures to repent of these ways in TPM. He would have removed all the teachings of TPM which bring in vain boastings; like TPM doctrine of eternal habitation, which dares to put Abraham in third category heaven & TPM saints in first category heaven, or TPM’s claim to be apostles or their “touch me not” attitude and their system of receiving special treatment according to hierarchy and the 20% tithe which he personally introduced.

He was Chief Pastor of TPM and he had all power to take such action. But alas he did not! He could have given instructions to all workers to never say “we are apostles” or “we are the only true church.”  Had this taken place, we would have not heard MT and his DDT. We could have seen a better version of Tambi Durai who would never dare to make believers as slaves to servants of God. But alas it was crocodile confession of T.U Thomas.

Lying Tongues and Meaningless words

True Repentance or Crocodile tears? This reminds me of Ananias and Sapphira who lied to Holy Spirit. These TPMites lie in God’s presence, that they are sorry for their haughty lifestyle; but they do not remove the source of corrupt waters.  They are like Simon the magician, who seemed to have become Christian. He took water baptism; but his heart was not right in the sight of God (Acts 8:13, 21).

The Psalmist says, And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer. Nevertheless, they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto him with their tongues. For their heart was not right with him, neither were they steadfast in his covenant. (Psa. 78:35-37)

A true repentance brings forth fruits meet for repentance. When Zacchaeus repented, he took actions to meet for repentance. He was not producing Jumlas before Christ. He was not doing crocodile confession like T U Thomas. Not only his tongue but his heart was set right before God.

Conclusion

King Saul cast javelin to smite David, but later he repented. He said, “is this voice of David my son?” And Saul lifted up his voice and wept (I Sam 24:16). But again he set his heart to kill David (I Sam 26). Then again Saul saying “I have sinned. Return my son David; for I will no more do thee harm (I Sam 26:21).” Shedding crocodile tears is a pattern in TPM! They repent and in a moment return to their filthy teachings and vain boastings and manipulations. Alas! Fruits meet for repentance is not seen in TPM. Check out this video where they are playing psychological tricks with their words where the preacher is meaning the words ascribed to THE CHURCH OF GOD and applies it shamelessly to TPM by the mention of “THIS CHURCH”. Who else but the devil can do these kinds of acrobatics. Their attitude continues to be deceptive.
