Heresies in TPM – Part 8 – The Unbelievable Idol Worship

After reading the title you may think, “But wait! There are no idols in TPM. We do not even have a cross (unlike those nominal Christian churches!). Our walls are as plain as it can get!”

Well, you are right, there are no walls as white as TPM walls anywhere in Christendom. But the idol worship in TPM is much more subtle, much more deceptive. It is so deceptive that it is impossible to recognize it if you are entangled in the system. You need to look from the outside to understand what I’m talking about.

I’m of course talking about the 5th Malayalam hymn from this year’s convention titled “Saint’s song on Mount Zion”. The same song that 1000s of people sang in the Chennai convention and 1000s more are about to sing in future conventions all over India.

Below is the original and the translation of the song in English.

The Unbelievable Idol Worship

Yes, it’s that horrible and blasphemous. Imagine what I had to sit through while translating that song to English?

In my experience, when confronted with false teachings from the pulpit, many TPM believers will use excuses like “That’s that pastor’s opinion, it is not a TPM doctrine. We can choose to ignore it”. But can you use that excuse for this song where many of those false doctrines are put into words in the presence of every high-level TPM pastor there is? If they have no problem with songs like this, doesn’t it go without saying the theology present in this song is TPM’s THEOLOGY?

I’m sure there will be many hardcore TPM believers who will see this song and wonder “What’s wrong with this. This is a beautiful song”. I’m not writing this article addressing them. Only God can change such hearts. But for those who are on the fence, I pray this will be an eye-opener.

Then there may be some who will say this song isn’t about TPM pastors who are alive but about those who have achieved TPM’s “perfection” and have died. Well, according to TPM, the 144,000 number hasn’t reached yet. So from TPM’s perspective, the subject of this song will include those alive as well.

The song goes from mild idol worship to full on idol worship as the song progresses. Let us break down the idolatry and heresies in the song.

Breakdown of the song verse by verse

On Zion’s hill with Christ the lamb, Who are these saints who sing a new song? These are the 1,44,000. What a joy singing this new song!

On the surface, this section would seem harmless. But those in TPM do know who this chorus is referring to. This is referring to TPM’s white clad ministers. When confronted with this, TPM believers/ministers will say “well, it refers to ANYONE who lives like TPM ministers and holds ‘apostolic doctrines’ like TPM”. The truth is there isn’t one and there hasn’t been one in the past. What TPM calls “apostolic” is an invention of the mid-20th century. It is not apostolic or biblical.

In any case, this chorus is giving glory to men who sit on a stage in a convention rather than giving glory to God.

I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not yield my glory to another or my praise to idols.” (Is. 42:8)

What does Paul say we must do when we meet together?

What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.” (1 Cor 14:26)

Did Paul ask them to sing songs about the apostles during worship? Did anyone in the bible say that? No church is built up by singing blasphemous songs in unison.

That doesn’t bother TPM. They have of course received personal revelation from heaven. So who are we to question?

These are the ones redeemed from among men. These are the ones who received Apostleship. On Zion’s hill in the radiance of Christ, they will serve Christ for eternity

Like we addressed elsewhere, TPM has a doctrine which says their ministers have a ‘double redemption’. They, of course, take a verse from Revelation 14 to say they have this “extra” redemption. Like the great biblical exegetes they are, they take every occurrence of the word “redemption” in the chapter and foolishly make different categories out of it.

Firstly, the context of Rev 14 clearly shows this to be an event happening on earth. John sees Mount Zion and then says in verse 2 “And I heard a sound from heaven..”.  “Heaven” in this context means the sky. So the picture drawn is of the mount on earth and the song is heard from the heavens.

Secondly, let’s assume the event is happening in heaven. Then if we read the passage literally like TPM does, then the 144,000 would include only men. Because verse 4 says “These are those who did not defile themselves with women, for they remained virgins”. No reference of women being included in the 144,000.

Thirdly, if TPM reads this chapter literally, they have a whole lot explaining to do with equating marriage with defilement. They must soon call “Holy Matrimony” as “Defilement Service”.

Suffice to say, TPM’s self-glorifying theory has way too many plot holes. But let me digress.

The biblical meaning of redemption is “bought with a price”, this would mean TPM ministers are worth twice as much as a believer.

The apostles when speaking of redemption speaks includes themselves along with the rest of Christ’s believers. Paul certainly did not believe he had “double redemption”. Then what makes you think TPM ministers have?

In him, WE have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace” (Eph 1:7)

Christ redeemed US from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.” (Gal 3:13)

It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for US wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.” (1 Cor 1:30)

“Along with Jesus they suffered. They followed the lamb. They served and followed the Lord. They stay joyfully with the Lord

I don’t know what they mean by they suffered along with Jesus. We have ample examples in scripture regarding men and women who suffered and followed Christ. The lives of present-day TPM ministers don’t come close to it.

They received teachings and doctrines of Christ and they make the church perfect.”

Is Christ caught in two minds? Did Christ suddenly scrap all of his teachings from the Bible 60 years ago and give new teachings and doctrines to TPM? Why is it that these teachings the TPM so proudly boasts have little evidence in the life and teachings of apostles in the New Testament?

Jesus said, when the Holy Spirit comes, He will lead the disciples to ALL TRUTH (John 16:13). We know Jesus isn’t a liar. We can believe without a doubt that the early apostles were led to ALL TRUTH like Jesus promised. So anyone claiming to have received “teachings and doctrines from Christ” in the 20th century, makes the word of God redundant. The early apostles were already led to ALL TRUTH. There was nothing lacking in the doctrines that they received.

Jude 3 says “Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people.

It was once for all entrusted in the 1st century. So the way we contend for that faith is by holding scripture as the ultimate standard because it is in them that these teachings are contained.

They received the priesthood after the order of Melchizedek. They received it with their consecration and are blameless

This is heresy. The priesthood after the order of Melchizedek belongs to Christ. He alone is the high priest. You can read the book of Hebrews a million times and you will not have a shred of support that TPM pastors are priests after the order of Melchizedek. In fact, scripture unequivocally names Christ and Christ alone as the high priest. But that doesn’t stop TPM from usurping Christ, does it?

For it is witnessed of him, “You are a priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek.” (Hebrews 7:17)

..But this one was made a priest with an oath by the one who said to him: “The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind, ‘You are a priest forever.’” This makes Jesus the guarantor of a better covenant. (Hebrews 7:21,22)

They are blessing for Churches all over the world.”

At this point, the songwriter has almost run out of superlatives to praise TPM ministers that he calls them a blessing for churches all over the world. I’ll let the readers decide how much of a blessing they can be when they shun every other Christian to “New Heaven” and “New Earth” and hardly ever preach unadulterated truth from the scriptures.

They have reached character perfection. Like Jesus who is perfect in love, they have become equal to Jesus in love

I wouldn’t have believed TPM had written the above verse if I hadn’t read it with my own eyes. Do you know of any of Christ’s disciple who claimed to be sinless? Not only that, TPM stoops so low as to belittle the love of God. Like Jesus who is perfect in love, TPM pastors have become EQUAL TO JESUS IN LOVE?

Dear TPM believers, do you realise what was just said in this song? The same Jesus who sacrificed his riches in heaven and came down to earth to live a sinless life, who exegeted the heart of the Father to us, who was slain on the cross for our sins. The same Jesus’s love that Paul prays that we should be able “to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ” (Ephesians 3:18). Here TPM equates that great love to the “love” shown by TPM’s ministers. I sincerely hope, people who are blinded in TPM will have their eyes open as they read this stanza.

Dear TPM believers, you shake your heads in disappointment when you see idols of Mary being paraded on the streets on St Mary’s feast and when you see Mary being elevated to a near god-like figure. Then why don’t you see the problem with TPM who have time and time again written songs that exalt them to God’s level?

They haven’t left any qualities unique to God. They receive “character perfection”, they are “sinless”, they are the “high priest”, they “bear your sins”, they are “equal to Jesus in love” and they take the place of the Holy Spirit in Eternity. When will you put your foot down and say “enough is enough” and shake the dust off of your sandals and walk out?

They have received respect from the Father. They have completed the glorious ministry. They have received a glorious golden crown. They will rule forever with Christ

What’s a TPM song without a little pride and elitism in the mix? After all the heresies in the song, they claim that the Father respects them and have completed the “glorious ministry” (not like those nominal Christians who die for the gospel and certainly not like Stephen who was stoned to death but will only get New Heaven).

This song has one purpose from start to finish. To praise and exalt TPM ministers. They merely use God as an excuse to accomplish that goal.

I have a few questions for the TPM hierarchy

  1. Aren’t you getting enough worship from the members already that you keep writing songs about yourselves for the convention?
  2. Do you honestly believe God is pleased with such songs?
  3. Do these songs glorify God or glorify man?
  4. Aren’t you guilty of forcing Idol worship on the masses who are clueless?
  5. Do you realise you invite non-Christians to your conventions only to make them sing praises of men?
  6. Do you find any difference between a Roman Catholic singing praises to Mary and you making the congregation sing your praises? (At least Mary was chosen by God and the angel himself said everyone will call her blessed. What excuse do you have?)

Conclusion

Dear readers, this level of heresy can be seen is just one song that TPM has written this year. There is a song on Zion, in Tamil as well as Telugu this year. In the years past, there have been many. Isn’t it time to say no to idol worship and start giving all glory and honour to God alone?

  1. First the Holy Spirit will never influence anyone to script this blasphemous song. So we all know which spirit would have influenced in scripting this song. Then the same spirit would get in people singing this song and make them shout, dance, fall on others, prophecies and utterances..and the clergy would proclaim the spirit is moving in the midst for the great anointing.
A mouse trap will have a bait which the mouse loves and that will eventually lead it to its end….so is this counterfeit godliness and holiness bait which the fallen one is using through such song composers to lead the masses off to its desired end.
Hope people have the sincere desire to have their eyes OPENED and not wait for the Lord to OPEN their eyes which will never happen.

  2. I am not sure if the one who are singing for God are praising and glorifying the servants of God. To be honest, everyone praises God and to my knowledge NO ONE praises humans, be it Servants of God too. In verbal communication, they may esteem others greater than themselves, but to glorify men in worship is totally not agreed.

Even if it speaks of servants of God, the singers will be singing glorifying God for giving us ministers, just like everyone thanks God for giving us food or parents, etc. And by saints, we should not get confused with only servants of God. Everyone are saints.

    1. Brother Mark,
Do you know how one gets saved?
      Please read Romans 9:9-10

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

Your mouth should declare exactly what your heart believes. Your mouth cannot declare something else when your heart believes a different thing. This principle holds good for all faith purposes.

Therefore, please get out of the delusion that you can sing praises to God in the heart while singing this blasphemous song with your mouth. Stop justifying TPM.

      1. You are incorrect in your stand. One actually praise God when you eat food. Food doesn’t become god and we do not worship food. Likewise everything including servants of God. We are thanking God for SOG is what I feel and I too do not believe in praising SOG. Actually, no one does that, and God abhors human worshippers. This is my view and stand. Actual interpretation of hymn, I am not aware, but this is how I see. But if my understanding tells that we are praising SOG, I will definitely stop and not just me, but the whole congregation. I need to do little homework on the song you posted in original script.

        1. Wow.. Justifying again.. How come the prayer before having food is connected to the point? I cannot make a person understand who is always predisposed to justifying all of TPM actions.

        2. @ Mark —
Is there difference between praising food and praising God for food ?
Check the song again and decide what is being praised and worshiped in it?

          11
        3. No… explanation is needed…can you show one Servant of God “equal to Jesus in love, blameless etc…then this song is a big lie

    2. Mark, anyone reading the song knows the saints mentioned here are the 144000 on Mount zion that TPM preaches and not “everyone are saints” . Nothing in the song praises God for giving us anything. It is blatantly praising and exalting men to a God like status. Do you have no problems with them claiming prerogatives that belong exclusively to God?

    3. Hey Mark,

You would b better off singing – “Hare Stephen, Hare Abraham “ instead of this deception.

The enemy is not only in your camp but is in fact ruling and leading you to eternal hellfire. Only God can save you from this deception.

  3. They have completed the glorious ministry
This belongs to the last stanza. Now just imagine the typical scene.
By the end of a song, everyone is almost on the 5th gear, going full speed.
And the moment this line is encountered, I can imagine seeing people jumping and shouting!
Reminds me of the golden calf scene described in Exodus.
I mean, seriously? Is this worshiping God? It’s gross deception.
I find it hilarious as much as it is heart-breaking.
People – open your eyes! Keep your ego aside and question yourself.
    May God bless you.

    P.S. – Good catch, admin.

  4. I attended Bangalore convention only on Sunday .. went there at 11:30 a.m.. And was regretting doing it.. Went for family’s sake… It’s literally like village fair .. some are sleeping, some are selling.. some one is shouting in the Mike. I do not know for whom.. And a bad food was served following it.. And people like herd sitting in the dust with white clothes..to eat it.. Why do they insist on white clothes when they can’t provide a decent place to sit ? The place that was constructed only few years back is broken down completely.. Whose money are you wasting TPM guys? You provide us with low class facilities and you enjoy all the facilities with our money.. Don’t you feel ashamed of yourselves? Don’t you have at least one percent of fear of God if not the love of God?

  5. I think Mark has a problem in reading and understanding the simple English. It’s very evident that the very word “Zion” by TPM people denotes their white-clads. They can perhaps be happy without Jesus but not without Zion. For them Zion is more important than the Father, Son & Holy Ghost. What a blasphemy to say that they are perfect in love like Jesus. One way they are bringing the everlasting love of Jesus to a low level of love these partial hypocrites have. These people teach not to mingle with other Christians- is it you call the perfect love of Jesus? They teach not to wish anyone who leave their cult organization – is it you call the love of Jesus? They enjoy the luxurious living, have best kind of food and provide ordinary food & residence to people during convention – is it the love of Christ? Despite all these, if people agree with every thing mentioned in the song then I would like to say that they are possessed of some wrong spirit & are not having a sound mind. Shame on TPM & all who support their wrong practices.

    1. They are just showing whose DNA is in their blood. It is that of their father, Lucifer who also coveted what they are coveting – Zion.

And their reward will be the same as their father.’s. Yes, they will be standing with him in the lake of fire and singing this very song with all their followers who fail to repent.

The more reason for me to thank God for delivering me from this deception.

Only when you see their lies in print do you realise the depths of their deception. Either they are foolish or absolutely deluded for publishing and singing a song like this in these times when every word they utter is being dissected under the microscope by fromtpm.com.

Well written Admin and friends. God is intentionally blinding them so that the lost in this cult would read these blasphemies and be rescued by the Lamb of God.

      1. I wander off remembering the same delusion I was in… thankfully saved. I can say that when Christ is not revealed to a man, he is at best a Saul of Tarsus, and at his worst- an infidel.

This generation is indeed blessed to have access to free media and to make up their own minds, and I must say that this website is such a blessing for me personally.

I think of the days when I questioned at Sunday School about: servants of TPM becoming the foundation of the Church while Christ is the cornerstone; sending your child to the ministry is the same as redemption money; faith homes as the equivalent of cities of refuge; what is the eternal fate of those workers who are sent home due to ill health etc…. I found only funny answers.

As I grew older I came across many more unbiblical rules that were subtly emphasized. For example- a (TPM) man and wife cannot enjoy marital relations regularly, unless there is a holy intent of honoring God’s command of procreation. Should they have sex, they should earnestly pray and ask for God’s forgiveness before the next communion.
(I write this because today’s youngsters in TPM would not even have a vague clue as to what beast is ruling the Church I once loved)

It took me many years to realize that Pauline epistles have been willfully misrepresented by modern Bible teachers to suit their own agenda. TPM is a master of cherry picking elements of Old Testament and look for licence in certain epistles and make a doctrine out of it. Apostle Paul must be very grieved looking at the present state of the church.

As long as we consider the modern day pastors to be Prophets Samuel or Moses and chase after prophesies and visions and acrobatic anointings, delusion will rule our spiritual understanding.

The key to coming out of this cult, in my opinion, is to stop attending services once in a while, attend after a break and feel the difference. Use the interim to pray and seek Godly counsel.
Attend other churches once in a while. Above all, strengthen your personal and independent relation with the Lord and be willing to learn from others mistakes as much as yours.

No church is perfect, but there is no church like TPM that can permanently impair your reasoning and leave you with Stockholm syndrome. No wonder so many die-hards love this bondage. (In my case, I have stopped attending church altogether… I find more peace conversing with the Lord at home and to study his word)

        17
        1. you are absolutely true. TPM restricts having intercourse with spouse on saturday night also as they consider sunday service as holy . it is because of this they conduct night prayers and ask all believers to stay in church after prayer. it is totally unbiblical. i also found peace after started to seek Jesus at home . Jesus is the best teacher who speaks daily to us. I am very peaceful at heart after not listening to these devlish doctrines. I go there becuase my husband is in total TPM bondage. I just put a earphone during these cultic worship and never follow their traditional dress code.

          19
        2. I did not know all this rules that surround marriage in TPM till I read this, though I was born and bought up in TPM 🙂

        3. If you are yet to marry, I would advise you to marry a non-tpm Christian. Marrying within this cult will get you further closer to hell.

  6. I think we should remove the TPM lens and see from neutral lens. Zion is not servants of God but saints of God. If you are claiming from TPM lens that Zion is SOG, then you need to re-think your article. Many SOG claims that believers are New Jerusalem and SoG are Zion, which is typically not correct. They make open statement in general, but in reality saint of God are called for Zion who qualifies. (Let’s not here argue about Zion, Jerusalem). Making the point as this whole article speaks of Zion and praising the people who are going to Zion (per the claim).

I would rather thank God for the saints of God and the fellowship He has provided. Just like one thank God for the parents God has provided. I would see this in this lens. It is not justifying for any cause.

Now the last 2 lines of Chorus that someone commented, I would be glorifying God again for the saints (not mere SoG) who lived in this earth as a heart of gratitude. Anyways, the song script seems quite tricky and twisty, which I am not sure if this is the correct translation of original script. As stated earlier, if it was glorifying men, I would definitely refrain and so do many of the saints. No doubt.

    2
    15
    1. Mark, you are free to take that song sheet and get it translated if you feel we are being “tricky”. Do your homework. We would be pretty stupid to put both the Malayalam script (which is actually the photograph of the convention hymn booklet) and the translation side by side if we were trying to deceive anyone.

Secondly, when an article is written about a song written by TPM, the writer HAS to put on a TPM lens to convey the INTENDED MEANING of the writer whose influences are TPM doctrines alone. If it very disingenuous to claim that song is about all saints in general when even a small kid in TPM can clearly see this song is addressing the 144000 of TPM.

Thirdly, this whole 4 tier system of eternity is a TPM invention. No other church that holds its allegiance to scripture preaches such distortions.

Fourthly, if the Paul and Peter and the rest were indeed apostles, they someone missed teaching such strange teachings. Cooking up a doctrine from a highly figurative and symbolic literature in the Bible is highly foolish. The question we must ask is this. Did the apostles in the Bible preach it? The answer is a resounding NO.

Lastly, this song is clearly ascribing things to TPM’s ministers that ought not be ascribed to them. There is not a single statement in the song where the songwriter praises God for these “saints”. If is heresy after heresy and putting down God’s love by highlighting their own. You seriously have no issue with the statement that they have become equal in love when compared to Christ? You should if your allegiance is to truth and not to men.

  7. I have heard from reliable sources that Pastor M T Thomas told in an elder’s meeting “all of you should learn and by-heart this song since it is exclusively meant for you.” I was told by someone who was part of that meeting. Here again MT and company like to hear pleasurable self glorifying songs, another attribute of Devil.
Mark as far as translation is concerned, I think the translator did a marvelous job of showing actual intention of the original writer.

    12
  8. ” But if my understanding tells that we are praising SOG, I will definitely stop and not just me, but the whole congregation”.
“As stated earlier, if it was glorifying men, I would definitely refrain and so do many of the saints. No doubt”.

The above comments were made by Mr. Mark. These comments makes me to think, Is Mark a TPM Minister?

If Yes, he has to study hermeneutics and homiletics. It’s very hard to unlearn than to learn something new. Those of you, who are in TPM for long time, please don’t get offended immediately on seeing these articles. Use your rationale and try to read without prejudice. Many visit this website just with a mind to defend that they are right with TPM doctrine. If any of the TPM supporters wants to prove these articles wrong, just come out with the Scriptural text. Why not even one TPM supporter could quote a verse to prove the articles in this website is making false interpretations. You people cant. Because we never studied bible by ourselves. We always read bible with TPM lens and took for granted whatever comes from the pulpit.

  9. I took this Malayalam hymn sheet and went to a Malayalee family..
I asked them to read the lyrics and tried to tell them how heretical it is, but they simply said,”Their is nothing wrong in singing about the saints of Zion”, and they even said me to stop visiting fromtpm.com
I know them since my childhood. They are very very good humans, but they cannot discern this simple thing…this clearly shows that they are not born again believers.

  10. Dear Admin,
There is one more song in Hindi in this year’s Mumbai convention songbook(Song no 10. PREIMEE DHULHAA AAYEIGA) pls add that song also to ur list….it is about the bride entering the mansions with the lamb and her fairytale fantasies in Tpm version….the song mentions the bride as a “glorious Queen” and in another place a “princess” ( so unbiblical) .no wonder why it is a favourite of the singing sisters because it is sung in almost all the meetings…..what is more dramatic is the
” annointing” that follows where they scream n yell and jump around
(read’ REJOICE’) thinking of the bridegroom.
