Ephesians 2:19-20 says that we are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens of the saints and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.
Our TPM Clergy led by Pastor Paul and Alwyn had this great desire to present themselves as the Apostles which can give them an edge over other ministries. Therefore they took upon themselves the mission of juxtaposing them as the apostles in the above verse. Such Private interpretations of the scripture has dealt a death blow to an organization and converted it to a full fledged cult.
Their desire to be better than the others has led them to a wrong line of thought as mentioned by Peter.
He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction. 2 Peter 3:16
The understanding of normal TPM folks is that the Apostles in the verse is mainly pointing to TPM Clergy. The Prophets are also the so called TPM prophets who scream their lungs with unknown tongues followed by what they think is a prophetical word.
What did Paul mean about “Prophets” in Ephesians 2:19-20 ?
TPM uses scriptures to force and manipulate their superiority over others. However, Paul used those wordings to authenticate that his message is in line with the rest of the scriptures. Let us check what did Paul think of the Prophets. Paul clearly expounds that the New Testament Church which Includes both Jews and Gentiles was established through the Writings of the Prophets. Which Prophets? Of Course, The Old Testament Prophets.
25 Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, 26 but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all the Gentiles might come to the obedience that comes from[f] faith— Romans 16:25-26
The Foundations of the New Testament Church was in the Prophetical Writings.
That is why Jesus referred to the same in Luke 24:27 on his way to Emmaus And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.
Confirmation by Peter
The Same thing is confirmed by Peter in 2 Peter 1:19 where he puts the words of the Prophets much higher than his own experience as a main Apostle.
For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 2 Peter 1:16 .
Peter confirms that the Prophets’ words are more sure than his own testimony.
We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 1 Peter 1:19
Peter again Confirms in 2 Peter 3:2 the same position that the Prophetical words are the primary foundation and Apostles are the Confirmation of the Same. Remember, these are not the “TPM Apostles” but the real Apostles of Christ.
I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles. 2 Peter 3:2
Other Confirmations proving that the Old Testament Prophetical Message is the Basic foundation
Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning. This old command is the message you have heard. 1 John 2:7
In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. Hebrews 1:1-2
What did Paul mean about “Apostles” in Ephesians 2:19-20 ?
I know that TPM diehards will have tough time swallowing this pill as it goes against what their washed brain says.
Some simple questions to be answered
Q. Who are the prophets mentioned in Ephesians 2:19-20 ?
Ans. The Prophets who wrote the scriptures that could be referred for our edification.
Q. Who are the Apostles mentioned in Ephesians 2:19-20 ?
Ans. The apostles of Jesus Christ whose teachings we refer to edify ourselves.
If you read from Ephesians 2:11 you will know that It is God’s Plan to create a New Humanity out of Both Jews and Gentiles. This was a Mystery which was shared with God’s Holy Prophets and his Apostles.
4 In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, 5 which was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets. 6 This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 3:4-6
Please check out Verse 5 again. It clearly says that the mystery is already revealed. So as this mystery is already revealed, we do not need any new Apostles from Sri Lanka and India to invent new Mystery which they call as Doctrine of Perfection and Zion Doctrine. All these additions and new twists which are taught by TPM are called “Another Gospel“. The Apostle says that such a Gospel is under God’s Curse.
9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse! Galatians 1:9
Needless to say, the ones who claim to be Apostles who propagate such a doctrine is classified as False Apostles.
I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. Revelation 2:2
Do not be perplexed by the claims by these False Apostles who have corrupted the Gospel of God for their own gain. You ought to have fellowship with the Father and His Son Jesus Christ.
We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 1 John 1:3
As we all know that TPM Clergy forbids you from having Fellowship with other Born Again Christians. Do you know why? They have silently replaced Jesus as the focus of Fellowship with themselves. They claim their elite status to bring divisions within the Body of Christ.
17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. 18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. Romans 16:17-18
At the most fundamental level – all true believers are united in Christ by a spiritual union with Him as a result of the work of the Spirit in our hearts through faith in the Truth of the Gospel. The Scriptures command us – NOT to create unity (which is there and real already) – but to preserve this unity through acts of love in the context of local churches. (John 17:22-23; Romans 12:4-5; Ephesians 4:3-6,13; Colossians 3:13-15; etc.) Because Christian unity comes through faith – it involves a unity in Truth.
God Bless you
