This was the proverbial final straw that broke the camel’s back in my journey away from TPM’s beliefs. This was in the year 2013 when I heard Pastor MT Thomas preach this “deeper truth” in a Bible study in Bangalore and repeated the same sermon the next Sunday in a local assembly in Bangalore. To say that my jaw dropped would be an understatement when I heard that Daniel was Sinless like Jesus.
So what was this great truth God revealed to MT straight out of heaven?
“In the scripture, we see only two personalities who never committed sin; one is our Saviour Jesus Christ and the other is Daniel. All other saints both New Testament and Old Testament committed some sorts of sins…. In him, there were about nine divine characters by which he lived a life without sin”
Yes, you read that right. Daniel was sinless just like Jesus and never committed a single sin. Let us all be in awe at the great revelation given to TPM’s consecrated saints!
You see, one of the major disagreements with the Catholic Chuch (apart from the gospel) is that they believe in the immaculate conception of Mary – meaning, Mary was born without original sin and never committed a single sin her entire life. I have spent countless days debating Catholics on this issue from the word of God. So imagine my surprise when the supposed “best church on planet earth” preaches similar heresy?
TPM is in the business of trivializing the unique qualities of Jesus. From Scripture, we know that one of the unique attributes of Jesus is that though he was tempted, he never sinned. He kept the law perfectly and took the place of sinners as an atoning sacrifice. There was no other man like Jesus. He kept the law perfectly.
“He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.” (1 Peter 2:22)
“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Cor 5:21)
“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are–yet he did not sin.” (Heb 4:15)
Scriptures contradicted by TPM’s new doctrine
“As it is written, ‘There is none righteous, not even one’” (Romans 3:10)
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” (Romans 3:23)
“But the Scripture has shut up everyone under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.” (Galatians 3:22)
“For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.” (James 2:10)
“Lord, you are righteous, but this day we are covered with shame—the people of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, both near and far, in all the countries where you have scattered us because of our unfaithfulness to you. We and our kings, our princes and our ancestors are covered with shame, Lord, because we have sinned against you. The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him; we have not obeyed the Lord our God or kept the laws he gave us through his servants the prophets. All Israel has transgressed your law and turned away, refusing to obey you.” (Daniel 9:7-11)
The reason Jesus had to come and die is that the law could not make us perfect. Only Jesus’ righteousness imputed to us can when we place our faith in Him and His finished work. Moreover, Daniel himself confessed that he has sinned against God, yet TPM says Daniel had never sinned.
What Drives TPM to Such Strange Teachings?
TPM’s “gospel” is basically one where you follow a list of rules given by the church to achieve “sinless perfection”. That is how one is truly saved in TPM. If you break even one of those rules, your “savior” will say “You are not part of my body”, “You are not my bride” and leave you behind. Once He leaves you behind, you either take the “mark of the beast” and go to hell eternally or die as a martyr and end up in a fictional “New Heaven” where you’ll have Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the likes to keep you company.
“If we really understand the Word of God and the truth, God in His mercy will help us to live a holy life; we will become immaculate, sinless beings. We really can keep away from all sin.” (Voice of Pentecost, December 2001)
Since this is what TPM calls “gospel”, they are forced to provide an example of sinless people from the Bible. Then they take an example of Daniel refusing the King’s food saying he will not defile himself. They extrapolate this to mean he never sinned and present this as a “deeper truth” which the congregation must follow and likewise maintain their “sinless perfection”. They don’t care if it contradicts the rest of Scripture. They just want to show their doctrines as true.
Dear readers, we have shown time and again that TPM cares very little about what scripture says. TPM’s “we follow the bible perfectly”, “we are the best church” are mere platitudes and doesn’t reflect in their sermons. In the minds of TPM pastors, since they are the epitome of “truth”, they can come up with anything and call it “deeper truth” and the congregation will buy it. Will you stay silent when your very savior is treated as a common man who wasn’t any more special than Daniel (a mere man) when it comes to sinlessness? TPM has thus far usurped Jesus as the only High Priest, only sinless person, only Saviour and the only source of righteousness. What more does TPM have to do for you to realize this is a false church that wants glorify itself? May God bless you all.
