All Christians are expected to observe one sacrament. This is what we commonly call as The Lord’s table. Our Lord has explicitly commanded his followers to do it in his remembrance (1 Corinthians 11:24). However, when it comes to TPM, I have always wondered if it is the Lord’s table or TPM’s Table. Somehow, TPM makes use of this Holy avenue to coerce their believers to obey their unbiblical doctrines. Surprisingly, this coercion is very evident in poor Churches in South India. They very carefully navigate through this topic in Western Nations to keep wealthy folks. Therefore the below situations are not applicable to wealthier churches. A clear violation of James Chapter 2. Moreover, the Bible tells us that it is an abomination to the Lord.
“Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD.”
The TPM Twist
During the first century, the breaking of bread was a daily act (Acts 2:46) and a weekly celebration on the first day of the week (Acts 20:7). However, in most TPM Churches this is a thing which gets conducted only every six months.
The Leaders of TPM somehow thinks that the Lord’s table cannot be conducted without few days of “Sanctification Meeting“. This Sanctification Meeting is nothing but an occasion to tell the congregation who all are eligible to partake in the Lord’s table. The TPM Leaders do not trust in the convicting power of the Holy Spirit to set things straight in a person’s life. That is why I strongly believe that it’s not the Lord’s table that they are observing.
According to the Bible, the only criteria to partake in the Lord’s table is to be born again and be baptized. No other criterion is added in the Bible.
“Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”
Is it the Lord’s Table or TPM’s Table that the TPM Ministers conduct.
Now let us consider these special items which qualify their believers to partake in the Holy Communion .
- These believers should be baptized by a TPM Worker whom they classify as an Apostle or a Saint. If you were baptized by a Non-TPM Minister, you are at the mercy of the TPM Minister to be offered a seat at the Lord’s table. I know of instances where people were removed by the Organization authorities from the Lord’s Table because they got Baptized by a non-TPM Minister.
- You should not be taking any medicines for any ailment. If you tell them that you are taking some medicines for some ailment, they would mercilessly remove you from the table and tell you that you do not have faith to get healing from the Lord. But it’s ironical that most of these same ministers wear spectacles, and take various ayurvedic (Indian Medicine) preparations for their own ailments. Few of them also have artificial dentures. Somehow they feel they need not have the faith that they are imposing on their believers.
- You are not qualified for the Holy Communion If you have not attended the sanctification meetings. They do not think that your conscience is good enough a judge for that act. They somehow feel that John was not very inspired when he wrote 1 John 3:21. “Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.”
- If you have not confessed your sins before the Minister in the Sanctification Meeting, you are not eligible. They believe in the Roman Catholic practice of getting approval from the concerned TPM Minister. Somehow they like to shove in their nose in the private relationship between the Lord and the Believer.
Therefore now, let me ask this question to all my readers. Does TPM conduct the Lord’s Table or TPM’s Table?
