The Clergy-Laity Divide in TPM Churches

Clergy is the boss

The Doctrine of Nicolaitans has been a curse in today’s Modern Churches where there is an unbiblical Clergy-Laity Divide induced within the body of Christ.

“But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers”

“And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.”

Matthew 23:8,9

Christian Principle

In the Church established by Jesus, there was only one category of people who called themselves brothers/sisters. But what we see today in churches are different categories of religious people who put themselves above another and claim for themselves special powers which never was handed over to them. In the Church of Jesus Christ, everybody had a ministry(servanthood) and it is basically a duty to be performed for the edification of the church. At no point, these duties became offices of power  to rule over one another.

How this Clergy-Laity Divide works in TPM

In TPM churches, this Clergy-Laity divide is exploited much by the clergy who calls themselves as “Saints” and the Laity are called as “Believers”. The laity has no rights in the TPM Church. All that they can do is Come, See, Sit, Obey, Pay and Go. Oh yes, the Laity can give testimonies as well. But listen to these testimonies and you will come to know that whatever God is doing in the lives of these people(BELIEVERS) is just because of the intercession of this Clergy who calls themselves SAINTS. They are no better than the Catholics or Orthodox people who route their prayer requests to God via their preferred Saint. For them, God is too far away to really hear their prayers. They need the special booster services from the Clergy(Saints). This is the level of BRAIN-WASHING that a TPM Believer has to undergo. Truly a Pathetic state.

An average TPM Believer does not have any relationship with the heavenly father other than the customary personal prayer which they think are not very effective. Therefore, for any real requests, they have to route their prayers through these SAINTS.

How it ought to be in a Real Church?

In the real Church which functions according to the New Testament Pattern, there are no pulpits and pews. Pulpit and Pew structure divide the people into classes. It’s more or less like a drama show where the audiences are entertained by the person on the stage. This is truly a satanic arrangement. In Early Churches, the seating was in a circular fashion where each one of the participants faces the other. It was never a One Man Show as is seen in modern churches. Moreover, each one of the participants had a ministry to be done for the edification. There were no onlookers in the Early Church.

“How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.”

1 Corinthians 14:26

If you belong to the TPM Church, I request you to evaluate your assembly on the basis of 1 Corinthians 14:26.

Therefore, please answer the following questions.

  1. Are you all facing each other in the meeting?
  2. Can you start the first Hymn of the Meeting?
  3. If you have a doctrine, will you be able to present it?
  4. Is it possible for you to exhort the assembly with the revelation you have?

From the look of it, it seems that the Holy Spirit is connected to the one man who has his seat in the Pulpit. The others are just there to watch the show.

What does the Bible say about this Clergy-Laity Divide in TPM and other churches?

The Bible calls this evil division of the Body of Christ as the “Doctrine of the Nicolaitans”.  The term “Nicolaitans” means ruler or king OVER laymen or people, so the doctrine means that some people in the church are the boss and everyone else has to submit to their authority. The Greek word when split gives the meaning as NIKOS = Rule and LAOS = People.

The Early church established by Jesus was not modeled in this fashion. All of them were equals. People were called as Elders in the Early Church just because they were older in age. There was no position called “Elder” as is made out by many TPM supporters. It would be nice if they read 1 Peter 5:1-5

1 Peter 5:1 states “To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder……”

1 Peter 5:5 says  “In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders…..”

See how Peter is contrasting the Elder to the Younger. It’s very clear that AGE was “the only criterion” for submitting to another person of the Assembly. Nowadays, a superficial position as given by a human organization is the criteria for submission. This arrogance can be seen in  TPM ministers, all over.

TPM Church Leaders NicolaitansNow, you can choose to be the Church of Ephesians which hated the deeds of Nicolaitans or be the Church at Pergamos who embraced the Doctrine of Nicolaitans. But before you make that decision, please read Revelation 2 to know with whom does Jesus Stand. 1. God, let John the Apostle see the revelation of the Lord Jesus; the revelation is written in the Book of Revelation in the Bible. In the revelation, Lord Jesus addresses the Nicolaitans, among others, and Nicolaitans’ works – which He hates. In the Book of Revelation, we can read what were the Nicolaitans’ works and doctrines which Lord Jesus hates. This topic is extremely important, and we should understand it, and we should stick to the truth in regard to this topic and reject the works and doctrines of the Nicolaitans because some of their doctrines still prevail among Christianity. Spend time in prayer while reading the present text thoroughly and comparing it to the Bible.

  2. The Mind Control has reached to such a level, whatever we say to the tpm-followers, they think it is to draw them away from the “truth”. It’s very devious, the way in which the mind gets bound by the corrupt practices and doctrines and preachings that are mouthed repeatedly. I have personally experienced it in my life where after being in this organization (don’t even feel like calling it a church anymore, except for the dictionary meaning) for 28 long years (since birth), the Light of the Gospel shone on me and opened up my eyes to all truth. It did take a while to completely understand the truth though, due to my reluctance to believe it. But the more I read the scriptures, without the tpm filter, the more clearer it started becoming for me of how wrong i was all my life. thank God for it.
i would love to have the old age kind of worship – no division – all brothers & sisters in Christ. Organic Worship. Check out “Rend Collective” on youtube to know what i mean. 🙂
